NEOGARD
PRESERVES
NEW HAMPSHIRE PARKING GARAGE
"Sustainable"
is the buzzword in construction today - building and maintaining
structures to last. Back in 1977, Associated Concrete Coatings (ACC) was
already thinking "sustainable" when they applied the original coat of
Neogard's Auto Gard II systems to the Victory Garage in Manchester, New
Hampshire. Auto Gard II is designed to waterproof and protect the
concrete slabs of parking decks from corrosion of the structural steel and
eventual disintegration of the concrete. After the first application
in 1977, the garage was selectively re-coated in 1989.
ACC, a Neogard applicator for 24 years, worked with Engineer, Hoyle Tanner
Associates, on the latest re-coat of the Victory Garage in Fall 2001.
For the most part, the crew was applying new Neogard urethane over Auto
Gard II that was 23 years old, to re-establish the traffic-bearing wear
course and improve skid-resistance. A tour of the garage included
comments on the good condition of the structural concrete and the existing
coating surface as well. |
