NEBRASKA’S TALLEST BUILDING PROTECTED BY NEOGARD WATERPROOFING SYSTEMS

Standing at 635 feet high and approximately one million square feet, First National Tower in Omaha, Nebraska is home to the largest, locally-owned and operated bank in Nebraska, First National Bank of Omaha.  Experts in finances, the facility managers at Nebraska’s tallest building wanted to prolong the life of their investments by protecting areas of exposed concrete that are subject to constant traffic.  Neogard traffic-bearing waterproofing systems were chosen due to the long history of proven performance on other parking structures in Nebraska.

Neogard waterproofing systems are liquid-applied, elastomeric membranes that form seamless protective barriers against leakage and moisture intrusion while becoming a part of the building structure.  Auto-Gard, a vehicular traffic-bearing system, was applied to First National’s parking garage and loading docks.  The small mechanical rooms of the tower were coated with Peda-Gard, a pedestrian traffic-bearing system.  Both systems are sustainable, designed to be maintained over the life of the structure, not removed and replaced.

Neogard licensed applicator, McGill Restoration, Incorporated of Omaha, synchronized efforts with general contractor, Kiewit Construction, and architect, Leo A. Daly, to coordinate a fast-track schedule with low temperature application techniques, all around a very busy large project environment.  According to Tim McGill, “The First National Tower is a high profile building and McGill Restoration is proud to be part of the team that completed this project.”
